Newcastle United’s manager is hoping that two players currently on-loan will become a permanent part of the team.

Newcastle United and manager Rafa Benitez enter a unique mid-week fixture tonight, as they travel to play Tottenham at Wembley Stadium. It will certainly feel like a massive occasion for supporters, and hopefully there will be more positivity for the Magpies in regards to two players currently on-loan at St. James’ Park.

During a press conference with the media on Tuesday, Benitez provided updates regarding the futures of goalkeeper Martin Dubravka and winger Kenedy on Tyneside, and there were encouraging aspects involved with his comments.

For Dubravka, his option-to-buy has certainly given the Spanish tactician confidence that a permanent deal can be completed. “We have the option so it is an easy one.”

For Kenedy, however, it is a bit more complicated. That option is not present for the Chelsea loanee, so it will not be as simple to keep him in the North East.

The 22-year-old has been brilliant in several games for the Toon, and fans will definitely want to see more of him if possible.

“Kenedy has done really well for us. We will talk to Chelsea about his future.”

Financial backing

Much has been made of the strained relationship between Benitez and club owner Mike Ashley, both in regards to the manager’s contract and with transfer funds. But for Dubravka and Kenedy, Ashley is presented with a situation that should not be ignored.

There is always a concern that a transfer may not live up to expectations and may not settle in with a new team. However, Ashley knows this to be a fact already.

Both players have showcased talent and a desire to stay, so the Toon will want to take advantage of a great opportunity.
