The summer transfer window has officially ended, with the Premier League action kicking off to its best. While many English clubs utilized the transfer window to its very best, Newcastle United had a relatively underwhelming transfer event. Even though the club was expected to make significant changes after failing to secure a berth in the Champions League, Howe's side couldn't manage significant additions to their season roster.

While it may feel that the Magpies Club had quite a disappointing performance in the summer deals, it is certainly not the case. Looking at the positive side of the window, the Tyneside club did manage to retain some of its best prospects to the club, having significant chances of a potential move. In fact, even the Newcastle boss, Eddie Howe, had been linked to a move for the national side, but the management did well in securing Howe's services.

In particular, Newcastle's attacking front, which has been found of the Magpies club, was kept at the club amidst various lucrative offers. What Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak, and Bruno Guimaraes have been doing at the club has been significant, and thus, keeping them tied to the club, devoid of a move, has been one of the club's achievements.

On a similar note, Newcastle managed to have Miguel Almiron and the veteran full-back Kieran Trippier, continue at the club, despite offers from the Middle West. With young stars like Harvey Barnes and Tino Livramento growing up to the roles these veterans have mastered, the presence of this duo could prove vital for the club's smooth transition.

Now, while Newcastle did pull off some great things, their summer transfer event couldn't be called a success. No Magpies fan could forget the club's struggles to sign Marc Guehi, but in the end, all they ended with was frustration. Similarly, the club and Howe had been eyeing reinforcements for their right-wing role; however, they couldn't finalize a deal regarding this need as well.

Newcastle's overall transfer window is rightly demonstrated by the words of journalist Henry Winter,

"“Frustrating window for Eddie Howe and NUFC. No Guehi. No new right-winger. Needed to clear more of the dead wood. But they didn’t lose coveted Gordon, Guimaraes, or Isak. Didn’t lose the outstanding Howe to England. Newcastle fans will be wishing Carsley well.""

Overall, Newcastle had a decent window, where they ended with a few signings, of Lewis Hall and William Osula; they certainly couldn't make ends meet this time. With the long season ahead, it is probable that the squad may face depth issues, with a few options in the center-back and wing roles, but it remains to see where Newcastle will end this season.
