The summer transfer window is in its end stages, and as one would expect, the heat has been ever-growing between European Giants to bolster their lineups. In the end days tussle, Eddie Howe's side Newcastle has been quite active, looking for the latest additions to their squad. Amidst all this, a major boost has been received by the Magpies club, as their brilliant prospect now seems safe from a potential move.

Spoken the harsh truth; this transfer window has been optimal for Howe's side. Unable to bring his favorite reinforcements, Marc Guehi for the center-back role and Federico Chiesa for the right wing, the English manager must be unhappy for the Tyneside club. However, late in the window, a recent update has arrived, securing their star winger, Gordon's future at the club.

Since the last few weeks, Federico Chiesa's purchase option has been checked out by various clubs, given the Italian winger's availability at just around €15M. European Giants, such as FC Barcelona and Liverpool, have all been in the race for Chiesa. In fact, given the player's preference and Barca's willingness to secure him, Chiesa's move looked certain.

However, as per recent reports, FC Barcelona, constrained by the Financial Fair Play rules, has given up on Chiesa's signing, making him available for other clubs. While this doesn't seem very relevant to Newcastle's case, it certainly has helped the club for Gordon's future. As per recent reports, Liverpool has decided to pursue Chiesa and is actively in talks for a deal.

Not to forget, the Reds have been targeting Newcastle's star winger Anthony Gordon for quite a while now and were considering him as the number 1 priority for Salah's successor at the club. In June, Gordon was on the verge of leaving the Magpies club for Liverpool, and a £75M deal was agreed as well. However, Eddie Howe's side, being quick on the matter, declined the player's move.

Thus, all in all, with Liverpool opting to pursue Federico Chiesa for their wing responsibilities, much of the burden has been taken off of Howe's shoulders regarding Gordon's future. Overall, indirectly, failure in Barcelona's Chiesa deal has helped Newcastle enjoy the services of Gordon for at least a few more seasons.
