- Eddie Howe reveals Newcastle's approach for the final day of the transfer window.
- Magpies want to send a few young players on loan as well as sign some new players.
Recently, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner officially confirmed that Newcastle United transfer target Marc Guehi will stay at Palace this season, putting an end to the Magpies's hopes of signing him in this transfer window. On top of that, today is the final day of the summer transfer window and there is a huge chance that Lloyd Kelly and goalkeeper Vlachodimos will be the only two new signings for Eddie Howe's side. William Osula has also joined the Magpies, however, he will play for the youth teams and if he performs well in the next few years, he will get opportunities to feature in the first team.
But currently, there are a few hours remaining in the transfer window and there may be some transfer activity at the St. James Park. A few Newcastle United stars such as Miguel Almiron and Kieran Trippier may join another club, as the duo have been linked with an exit throughout this summer transfer window. Now, speaking about the club's approach towards this transfer window, manager Eddie Howe revealed that he expects a few young players to go out on a season long loan alongside signing some new players as well.
Eddie Howe reveals Newcastle's approach for the final day of the transfer window
"I don’t think we’ll be closed right until the end, in both ways, ins and outs. We are looking for loans for two or three of those. So let’s see what happens in the last few hours.
- Eddie Howe
I don’t know if expecting another signing is the right word, but we are hopeful of course. Currently there is still time and there is still work going on to try and see what we can do in the last few hours of the window. "
Thus, the Magpies will not try to make a massive signing, rather than aim to improve the current squad. A new central defender and a right sided forward is still a priority to provide more squad depth to those two positions. Alongside them, Newcastle United can try to bring in a new left back as well to provide more competition to Matt Targett and Jamal Lewis on the left side of the defence.
Also, Chelsea will be one of the most active Premier League teams on the final day of the transfer window, as they are expected to announce the departures of several first team stars on a season long loan or a permanent transfer, including the likes of Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell. Those two players have attracted transfer interest from the Magpies, and will immediately improve the overall squad depth for Eddie Howe's side. Therefore, Newcastle United should try to sign these players who will bring a wealth of Premier League experience and quality to this Newcastle team.
