In this transfer window, Newcastle United are trying to sign a top quality centre back to bolster their defence. Therefore, they have set their sights on signing Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi. The Magpies submitted their fourth bid of £65 million to Palace for Guehi, however it seems that Palace aren't willing to sell Guehi in this transfer window.

Recently, Crystal Palace sold centre back Joachim Andersen for 30 million to Fulham, meaning they won't sell any other defender with only one week remaining in the transfer window. Now, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has spoken about Marc Guehi, suggesting that he is a key player for Palace and hence, will most likely stay at the club this season.

"Marc will lead the team as captain tomorrow. I expect everyone being a Crystal Palace player until nobody tells me something different. Especially that player. Because at the end of the day it is always their decision."

Also, Guehi has been made new Crystal Palace captain which highlights his growing stature at the club. Thus, Newcastle United need to table a huge offer to Crystal Palace if they want to bring the 24-year-old to the St. James Park. Hence, the Magpies should consider other centre backs like Mohamed Simakan to strengthen their defence.

Moreover, there is a need to sign a right sided forward as well who can score a lot of goals for Newcastle United. Recently, Paul Merson suggested that Eddie Howe's side should bring Premier League star Raheem Sterling in their squad to complete a world class front three alongside Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.
