- Chelsea want to sell Sterling in this transfer window.
Ahead of the second Premier League matchday, Newcastle United are preparing to face Bournemouth as they look to make it two wins in a row after winning 1-0 against Southampton. On the other hand, the Magpies are also actively considering signing a new centre back. Although Marc Guehi is the number one priority centre back on Newcastle's shortlist, Eddie Howe's side may bring in any other central defender if they couldn't reach an agreement with Crystal Palace to sign Guehi.
Further, another position the Magpies want to improve is their attack. Newcastle United have star forwards Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon in their squad, however, there is a need for another in form forward to complete the front three. Last season, Miguel Almiron struggled to score more goals as he did in the 2022/23 season.

Also, second choice centre forward Callum Wilson has missed several games for the Magpies due to injury, therefore, Newcastle United need to sign a quality forward to bolster their attack. One of the best forwards that Eddie Howe's side can sign currently is Chelsea star Raheem Sterling. The 29-year-old has made 373 appearances in the Premier League while playing for Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea and has scored 123 goals alongside providing 62 assists.
Sterling won four Premier League titles with Manchester City before joining Chelsea in 2022. However, recently Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca has revealed that Raheem Sterling is among the players that Chelsea want to sell in this transfer window, which has attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs like Aston Villa, West Ham and Newcastle United, who want to sign Sterling.
Thus, speaking about Sterling, Paul Merson said,
"If I was Newcastle, I would try and sign Raheem Sterling from Chelsea. Play Sterling on one wing, Anthony Gordon on the other and Alexander Isak through the middle, that would be an exciting front-three."

If Newcastle sign Sterling, it will complete their star studded attack and will provide quality and squad depth to Eddie Howe's side. Now it remains to be seen whether Newcastle United try to sign Sterling in this transfer window.
