Newcastle United are actively scouting top strikers this summer, even as they remain determined to retain Alexander Isak. The Swedish forward has been instrumental this season with 17 Premier League goals. He is central to the club’s plans, but the Magpies are preparing for all scenarios.

Chief executive Darren Eales recently emphasized the club’s commitment to keeping their star players, stating three times during a media briefing that key figures like Isak are on long-term contracts. However, Newcastle’s scouting network is busy identifying potential replacements should the unthinkable happen.

As per Craig Hope of the Daily Mail, Newcastle have added Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap to their shortlist. The 22-year-old has scored 10 goals this season and is attracting interest from several top clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United. Newcastle’s scouting chief, Steve Nickson, has also been monitoring Lille’s Jonathan David and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, both of whom have been long-term targets for the club.

Despite the contingency planning, Newcastle’s preference is clear: they want Isak to stay. Talks over a new contract are expected to resume in the summer, with the club keen to secure his future. Isak’s current deal runs until 2026, but an extension would further solidify his role as the team’s talisman.
