Since the beginning of the summer transfer window, the Newcastle United rumours mill has picked up its pace. But that’s pretty much all the Magpies have managed so far, with plenty of rumours and just one major signing in the form of Anthony Elanga.
That said, with the departure of Alexander Isak looming large, Newcastle are in urgent need of bolstering their attack ahead of next season, especially with the Champions League on the horizon. A number of players are already being linked, including Yoane Wissa, Benjamin Sesko, and Lois Openda, to name a few.
Meanwhile, it seems the club have set their sights on another candidate, this time a Chelsea player who was a regular in the last campaign. According to the Daily Mail, Blues striker Nicolas Jackson has now been added to Newcastle’s list of attacking targets.

Jackson was the primary striker for Chelsea in the 2024/25 season. He appeared in 37 matches, scoring 13 goals and providing 6 assists. However, with the Blues having recently signed Liam Delap and Joao Pedro to stregthen their attack, the Ghana international is at risk of falling down the pecking order, which could prompt him to move this summer.
The 24-year-old joined Chelsea in 2022 for a reported fee of €37 million. But the player has failed to make any major impact at Stamford Bridge despite getting opportunities. On top of that, Jackson has also faced backlash for his inability to keep off the books.
So, Newcastle will need to first ask themselves the question: Can Jackson really be the ideal alternative to Isak? And even if they choose to pursue this deal, the club will need to proceed with caution as the only thing worse than no new signings is a signing who doesn’t deliver.
