Newcastle United's 2024/25 summer transfer window can be called a complete disaster. While the club did make a few prospect signings, they failed to bring in key reinforcements, which could have strengthened Eddie Howe's lineup to a completely new level. Missing out on a right-footed center-back and a reinforcement for their right wing, the Magpies club poorly performed in the transfer event.

However, as was much expected and evident, the club's sporting director was subjected to huge question marks upon his failure to bring in Marc Guehi and Anthony Elanga, their desired players, at the club. In fact, reports from iNews suggest that the club still needs these reinforcements, with a right-wing signing being the club's priority next summer.

Given the performances of Toon players Jacob Murphy and seasoned star Miguel Almiron, Eddie Howe's side certainly demands an upgrade on the two players. While the club had shown interest in Nottingham's Anthony Elanga, till the very end, it remains to be seen whether he will be on the club's top charts next summer. However, what might hinder the club from completing a high-profile right-wing signing is their interest in Lille's star forward, which seems to be declining no more.

Coming on the back of a 26-goal season at the French club last season, prodigy forward Jonathan David has been unstoppable this season. Already on 10 goal contributions in his 13 appearances so far, the 24-year-old Canadian forward has been attracting various European Giants already. As per iNews, Newcastle is one of the interested ones who think he could be a significant replacement for Callum Wilson.

Moreover, while David has been in the media limelight for quite some time now, his recent match-winning UCL performance against Real Madrid has made him a household name. Given that the player, already in his final year contract at Lille, won't extend, he has been on Newcastle's target, posing as one of the best forward prospects currently.

However, being much more realistic, considering Newcastle's scenario, Paul Mitchell might not consider the forward as their priority reinforcement without completing a right-wing signing first. Thus, despite being highly interested in Jonathan David, Newcastle would want to stick with their priorities for a successful transfer window next summer.
