Newcastle United have recently accepted a £130 million bid from Liverpool for their primary striker, Alexander Isak. The saga, which dragged on for the better part of the summer, is finally over, and the player is set to complete the switch soon.

That said, this development has left the Magpies with Nick Woltemade, who recently joined from Stuttgart, as their only established striker in the squad, which could be a cause for concern given the increased number of games in a season. Yoane Wissa has been linked with a move, although his transfer is facing some doubts and time constraints regarding it’s completion.

Nevertheless, as we enter the final few hours of the transfer window, an addition to the striker position is still possible, and Newcastle appear to have already identified two more candidates as alternatives.

According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Nicolas Jackson and Randal Kolo Muani are two players Newcastle United are keeping an eye on, in case the Wissa deal collapses.

Jackson, who was all set to join Bayern on a season-long loan and even travelled to Munich to complete the move, has been recalled by Chelsea following the injury to their striker Liam Delap against Fulham, throwing the Senegalese forward’s future into jeopardy.

On the other hand, Kolo Muani has been pushing for a move to Juventus, but PSG and the Serie A club have yet to reach a club-to-club agreement. The French striker has previously been linked with a move to Newcastle as well.

Both of the strikers mentioned are established players and have experience at big clubs. However, Newcastle should be cautious before jumping into any overpriced deal for either of them, a highly likely scenario at such a stage of the transfer window.

The Magpies have clearly left things too little, too late and have already missed out on several targets. However, is there a final twist to come in their summer transfer tale? Only time will tell.
