With only a few hours left before the transfer window closes, Newcastle United seem to have accepted a mega £130 million bid for their star player. Frankly speaking, it has been a rollercoaster of a summer full of ups and downs for the Magpies.
At the start of the window, Newcastle failed to get much done as a number of their targets decided to join rival clubs instead. But things slowly picked up pace for the Magpies, and they ended up completing five signings so far, including Anthony Gordon, Aaron Ramsdale, Malick Thiaw, and Jacob Ramsey.
Their latest and probably the most important one came in the form of Nick Woltemade, who is expected to lead the Magpies' frontline moving forward, more so with the recent development, as there has been a major update regarding the future of Newcastle’s primary striker, Alexander Isak.
Fabrizio Romano has posted on X confirming that Isak to Liverpool is done with his signature “Here we go”. A Premier League record £130 million transfer fee by the Reds has been accepted by Newcastle. A long-term deal had already been agreed with Isak, who is now on his way to complete the medical.
Alexander Isak saga comes to an end as Newcastle United accept £130 million Liverpool bid
Isak, who had a hugely successful Newcastle career, was involved in a long-drawn saga as he tried to force his way out of St James’ Park. Fans were left furious with the Swedish international, who refused to play for the Magpies again. As a result, he ended up missing all three Premier League matches this season, and his absence has been noticeable, with the Magpies yet to secure a win.
Newcastle will be left with just one established striker in their roster (Woltemade) for at least the first half of the season, if they fail to bring in someone new before the deadline. Yoane Wissa is one of the options heavily linked for a long time, but nothing can be said for certain although the player has recently requested Brentford to let him join Newcastle.
Isak’s departure will come as a bittersweet moment for the fans and the club management alike. On one hand, the player with the most goals for Newcastle in the past three seasons is leaving. On the other hand, the Magpies have managed to bag £130 million and can use it to reinforce multiple positions in the future.
