Lately, it feels like there is no end to the Alexander Isak saga. One moment there are reports that the Swedish striker is staying, and the next, you know news of him asking for a move away this summer is all over the internet.

The player once dubbed “Alexander the Great” by the Newcastle fans has quickly lost their respect, with many feeling betrayed after the Swede’s recent decision to leave the club. Multiple clubs are said to be interested in the player, but Liverpool seems to be the most likely destination for the 25-year-old as of now. The Magpies have already intensified their search for a replacement for Isak, but there are still no concrete developments on that front.

Meanwhile, there have been some major new updates regarding Isak’s exit from the club. Fabrizio Romano recently posted on X stating that Liverpool placed an opening bid for Alexander Isak worth a £120 million package plus add-ons. However, Newcastle rejected the deal, as they won’t open the doors at least until they find a replacement, which is not guaranteed at this stage. Isak is clear with the Magpies on his desire to join Liverpool.

Newcastle reject Liverpool’s £120 million approach for Alexander Isak

Newcastle have already lost the race for their prime summer target, Hugo Ekitike, who decided to join Liverpool instead. Now, Isak’s potential move to Anfield is only adding to the blow for the Magpies.

Manager Eddie Howe is currently facing a significant challenge with only William Osula at his disposal due to Isak’s absence from the squad owing to the recent saga. The result is Newcastle have lost all three of their pre-season friendlies so far.

Anyways, all things considered, there’s no real point in forcing a player if he doesn’t wish to stay. Nevertheless, the club will need to bring in multiple signings to strengthen the striker position ahead of next season, whether Isak ends up staying or leaving.

Isak’s chapter seems to be far from over and there might still be a few twists and turns remaining. However, the longer the uncertainty drags on, the more it threatens to derail Newcastle’s transfer plans, which aren’t going great to begin with. Let’s see how things pan out in the future.
