Newcastle United fans traveling back from the Carabao Cup final this Sunday will face an unusual restriction: a ban on alcohol consumption on trains.

The British Transport Police have asked that LNER trains going back to the northeast, to refrain from serving alcohol, reports The Times. There will be security teams at King's Cross to stop fans from taking their own drinks on board. This directive specifically affects Newcastle fans returning to the northeast, including destinations such as Newcastle, Leeds, and York, during the specified hours.

It's interesting that Liverpool fans travelling from London Euston might not have to follow the same restrictions, since their trains have not been marked as alcohol-free. Fans are arguing about this difference, with Newcastle fans feeling like they are being unfairly targeted.

The upcoming final holds significant importance for Newcastle United, as the club aims to secure its first domestic trophy in 70 years. The Magpies' last major success dates back to 1955 when they clinched the FA Cup.

Newcastle’s last Carabao Cup final appearance in 2023 ended in a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United. This time, they face an even tougher challenge against Liverpool, who are chasing the Premier League title under Arne Slot.

Newcastle captain Kieran Trippier has urged his team to stay calm and focused ahead of the final. “It’s massive,” he said after Monday’s win at West Ham. “We know how to handle it now. The most important thing is to stay composed and treat it like another game.”

However, fans should be aware of the alcohol restrictions in place for their return journey. The enforcement of this policy underscores the importance of safety and responsible behavior during travel. Supporters are advised to plan accordingly and respect the guidelines set forth by authorities to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all passengers.
