Newcastle United seem to have started turning things around after a slow start to the transfer window, as they have reportedly secured the signing of Malick Thiaw, with the deal now just awaiting official confirmation. From the beginning of the summer, the Magpies have been looking to bring in a reliable new centre-back and a clinical striker. While the former has been fulfilled with the recent signing, the latter still remains unaddressed.

Newcastle have been linked with a number of strikers as potential candidates. However, players like Hugo Ekitike, Benjamin Sesko, and Bryan Mbeumo, who were at the top of the Magpies' list of targets, have already joined rival Premier League clubs. As a result, the club have shifted their focus to other forwards.

Meanwhile, according to reports, one of those forwards has made his decision known about his next club, in case he moves. According to The Telegraph, Nicolas Jackson favours a move to Newcastle should he leave Chelsea during this transfer window.

Chelsea have recently brought in two new strikers, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. Ironically, both of them were on Newcastle’s list of targets for the summer. Anyway, as a result of the arrivals, Jackson is at risk of sliding down the pecking order and may need to find a new club.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have reportedly told Alexander Isak that he will not be sold this summer despite the ongoing saga. So, the Magpies could opt not to sign anyone new and make do with the current roster, despite the lack of depth there.

Chelsea are reportedly asking for a price of £80 million to part ways with the player, which is on the steeper side. So even if the player leaves and Newcastle do try to sign him, it won't be easy. Also, frankly speaking, there are better options for that price tag, as the Senegalese player hasn’t been in the best of his form recently. It remains to be seen how much Newcastle prioritises their striker search in the coming few weeks.
