Kieran Trippier metatarsal fracture injury, February 2022

In a hero’s fashion, Kieran Trippier suffered an unfortunate injury in February 2022. He was subbed off in Newcastle’s game against Aston Villa after scoring a stunning free kick in the match. After the match, it was confirmed by The Guardian that an injury blow had been dealt to Newcastle as an X-ray had concluded that Trips had fractured his metatarsal bone.

"“Trippier underwent an X-ray immediately after the game and scans have shown a fracture to the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot” – Newcastle club statement (via The Guardian)"

An unfortunate injury after Trippier had impressed for the club he only signed for a month previously. Thankfully, though, Trippier would return before the end of the season. His first game back was a substitute appearance against Manchester City which the Magpies lost 5-0. The less said about that, the better.
