Joe Willock hamstring and Achilles injury, August 2023

According to the Newcastle Chronicle (September 16, 2023), Joe Willock was almost over the hamstring injury which saw him ruled out towards the end of last season. However, suffering an Achilles problem sees the former Arsenal man out for longer than expected.

The report claims that Willock, who has missed the start of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, jetted off to Barcelona during the September international break to work on his fitness. Howe claimed that Willock is “looking good” but he is not near a full return yet. Of course, the aim for Howe is to get the talented midfielder back as soon as possible, but he won’t want to rush the process.

In the most recent update from Shields Gazette (September 22, 2023), Eddie Howe has confirmed that Joe Willock will be out injured “for another month”. Essentially, Willock won’t return until after the October international break.
