Newcastle United: Gareth Bale would be the signing of the summer

A new name has made its way to the top of Newcastle United’s summer wishlisht: Gareth Bale.
The Newcastle United takeover waiting game continues, but the light is visible at the end of the tunnel. Several reports from major media outlets claim that the Premier League will approve the deal, and this is expected to occur at some point this week.
As a result, more reports continue to come out claiming that representatives of Newcastle United’s incoming owners are in talks with the agents of notable players across Europe. Philippe Coutinho has been linked with the Magpies for a few weeks now, and James Rodriguez has recently popped up in the rumor mill as well.
The big name that fans should truly be excited about, though, is Gareth Bale. A new report claims that Real Madrid’s star winger is the top name on the incoming owners’ summer wishlist. Newcastle United have been linked with some big names recently, but Bale would be the signing of the summer, not just for Newcastle United, but the Premier League.
Bale’s departure from Madrid is inevitable due to the tenuous relationship between the Welshman and manager Zinedine Zidane. The former Tottenham star joined Real Madrid back in 2013.
During that time, Bale has scored 105 goals in 249 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos. It is worth noting that Bale has scored some of Real Madrid’s most important goals in domestic and continental competitions over the last few years.
Despite this impressive scoring record, Zidane has placed a ceiling on Bale’s overall success and impact this season. Bale has only made 14 appearances in La Liga this term and he is eager to move to a team where he can re-establish himself as the top dog.
Newcastle United would present Bale with an opportunity to return to the Premier League, continue to play to competitive football, and be a major contributor to the transformation of England’s sleeping giant. Mauricio Pochettino is the club’s top managerial candidate and his arrival would provide the Magpies with a significant boost regarding the recruitment of elite players like Bale.
By securing the services of Gareth Bale, Newcastle United would undoubtedly have one of the best players in the Premier League and in Europe in their squad. His talent and consistency on the pitch would be critical to the Magpies’ success, but the impact of his arrival would go beyond the pitch.
By landing a player of his caliber, other top names in European football would perceive Newcastle United in a different light. It takes a few good players to join a team before other notable names start to consider signing for a club like Newcastle United, but signing a player like Bale would incite other top players to call their agents.
At 30-years-old, Bale still has plenty to offer and he is more than capable of influencing the outcome in games with his individual brilliance. How long he would stick around is unclear since he recently mentioned that he would be interested in the MLS at some point in his career, but for now he would be a stellar signing for Newcastle United, especially at a discount price.
