Gary Speed
In 1998 Gary Speed made his move to Newcastle United in what would become a spectacular career. The late Gary Speed played in legendary games such as the 8-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday, and scoring against Dynamo Kyev in a group stage match in the Champions League.
He is often regarded as one of the best midfielders in Newcastle United history. And I’d be doing a disservice to this list, and a disservice to Gary Speed if he were not on it. Not many players can be like Gary. Through hard work and training he became a top midfielder. He was a strong captain who managed to help Newcastle United usher in some of its best years in history.
He was a player that you just simply cannot replace. One of a kind. And that’s why he’s on this list.
