Andrew Cole

I consider Andrew Cole to be perhaps the best winter signing that Newcastle United had ever made. Despite being with the club for less than three seasons, the striker managed to be one of the most prolific during his tenure at the club.

In 85 appearances, he scored 68 goals. He was a profound goalscorer who at almost every turn gave fans a reason to cheer.

What made Cole an even larger success was his transfer to Manchester United. Cole was purchased by Newcastle United for just under £2m in 1993. That was money well spent when they made a sizable profit off of Cole when Manchester United came calling in 1995 in a deal worth £6m cash and £1m rated Keith Gillespie.

Newcastle fans are very fond of Andy Cole, it’s just a shame that the club sold him so prematurely.
