It has been known enough that Newcastle United and Eddie Howe have been longing for solid center-back reinforcement all this window. However, despite being in talks for over a month with Crystal Palace for Marc Guehi, the club hasn't been able to reach an agreement. Even though only a couple of days are left, much can happen for the Magpies club.

Will Newcastle be able to end the summer window with Guehi's signing?

So far, Newcastle's summer transfer window has been much underwhelming, with the club failing to bring in even a single top transfer prospect to the club. Thus, not only does Newcastle's potential signing of Marc Guehi mean significant for their defense, but it also gives the Magpies fans a huge gift for their support.

Not to forget, even though the deadline day is nearing fast, reports have suggested that the English defender still stands a considerable chance of joining the Magpies club this summer. Recent reports from Craig Hope, a journalist at the Daily Mail, suggest that, as per his information, Marc Guehi is still possible for Newcastle.

Speaking about the player's potential move, Hope said,

"“Palace was waiting to get the center half in. I think there has been movement on that today in terms of them agreeing a price. Once that happens, I do expect Guehi to arrive at Newcastle United.”"

Further, he laid this also on the fact that Crystal Palace have signed Maxence Lacroix from Wolfsburg, and there must be a reason for this £18M signing. Assuming the most obvious scenario, the South London club might have brought in Lacroix considering Newcastle's intense involvement in Guehi's deal.

Not to forget, Newcastle has been working for Guehi's deal, even after having 4 bids rejected. Thus, if they end up not having him at the club as a part of their season roster, it would be frustrating both for the fans and management, raising questions about the club's officials associated with the deal.

Overall, time is ticking away, and Newcastle needs to really get quick if they want to bolster their backline with a solid center-back this summer.
