Since the transfer window began in mid-June, it has been Newcastle boss' Eddie Howe's preferential desire to bolster the Magpies lineup with reinforcements in wing-forward roles and center-back roles. However, the club hasn't enjoyed a significant player signing summer. With just a couple of days left in the window, the club finds itself nowhere near its desired prospects.

Newcastle United shows late interest in signing Everton's star forward

Even though Newcastle hasn't been able to bring in Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi and Juve's Chiesa, the club still hasn't lost hopes on a forward's signing. As per reports, Newcastle United has set their eyes on Everton's Calvert-Lewin as a late signing to boost their squad depth. And with less than 3 days left for player signings, the club wants to bring the English forward.

Not to forget, Everton has started their 2024/25 campaign most disappointingly, losing the first matchdays miserably and finding itself in the 20th spot. Thus, the Toffees club might not hesitate to part ways with Calvert-Lewin for new options. Add to that the fact that the forward's contract with Everton is moving towards expiration soon.

Having less than a year left in his Goodison Park, the future of the forward looks uncertain. Thus, with Everton at risk of losing him for free the next year, they might consider cashing in Calvert-Lewin. In fact, reports from Caught Offside suggest that the Everton star has given his approval for a move and is open to the idea of leaving.

As per sources, the Magpies club is considering making a bid for the forward, with the notion of securing a reliable backup for their frontline striker Alexander Isak. Even though Isak's recent Newcastle run has been incredible, the potential signing of Lewin will not only be useful in injury cases but also be fruitful in Isak's rough patch.

Even though further reports on Newcastle's pursuit of Calvert-Lewin are yet to arrive, it would certainly not be easy for the Magpies since many other clubs are in the race for him.
