Newcastle United have started their new campaign on a considerably high note, sitting in the 5th spot of the PL table. Even though the club's overall performance hasn't been significantly convincing, as club icon Shearer remarked, the Magpies have been enjoying significant fortune lately. Not only is the club in a decent position in PL, but recent updates indicate that the star midfielder is set to return soon for Newcastle.
Newcastle United receives a major boost as the star midfielder is set to return soon
A few days ago, in the Carabao Cup, Newcastle faced Nottingham, and much shockingly, Eddie Howe's side just edged past Nottingham instead of putting on a dominating show against them. Moreover, the club felt on the verge of facing another blow, as their star midfielder, Joe Willock, had to be subbed off in pain.
Even though the initial reports sounded positive, there was a tension buildup considering that the English midfielder was returning from an injury-inflicted 23/24 campaign, and a severe one this early might have hampered Newcastle's spirits. However, now the fear has gone as the club's sporting director, Paul Mitchell, has given a positive update on Willock's injury.
Speaking to the media, Mitchell mentioned about the 25-year-old's injury status,
"“Joe Willock-I know he got injured against Forest, but we all saw what he can bring to this team.”"Paul Mitchell
Moreover, adding further, Mitchell gave the Magpies fans a bright ray of hope, saying,
"“He’ll be back very soon.”"Paul Mitchell
While still there has been no confirmation regarding the star midfielder's injury return, for now, Mitchell's recent update finds well in Newcastle's interest. With an already injury-inflicted squad, having Sven Botman, Lewis Miley, and Calum Wilson sidelined, another serious injury would have worsened Newcastle's season run.
Overall, currently, there is no confirmation regarding Willock's return, but the midfielder is set to return soon. Newcastle fans would hope that their star midfielder returns soon, knowing his vitality in the club's midfield and knowing that he can be extremely crucial in the club's chase of a top-4 finish.
