Newcastle's start to the 2024/25 season hasn't been significantly impressive. Even though the Magpies club currently finds itself in the 6th spot of the PL table, with their recent performances against Bournemouth and a mediocre performance in the Carabao fixture, Newcastle's display has yet to be up to par.
Add to that the club's ongoing injury woes, due to which Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles, Lewis Miley, and Callum Wilson have been sidelined. However, the club has faced a major setback, as in their recent outing against Nottingham Forest, their star midfielder, Joe Willock, faced a thigh injury.
Not to forget, Willock had made the perfect return for Newcastle, capitalizing on the early open goal opportunity just 18 seconds into the fixture. In fact, the midfielder was looking in quite good touch until the disastrous moment happened. In the event of snubbing out an attempt, the English midfielder pulled up in pain on the ground.
Even though he tried to continue in the match, just 10 minutes after treatment, it didn't go any smoother as Willock was forced to discontinue only after 15 minutes. Speaking to the NUFC TV, Eddie Howe gave updates about Willock's injury,
""Joe had a scan yesterday (Thursday), an early scan; it is relatively good news.""Eddie Howe
Luckily, the midfielder seems safe, as per initial reports, as Howe mentioned.
"“I don’t think it is a serious injury, but it is early, so we will re-scan again in a few days just to confirm that.”"Eddie Howe
Having witnessed the player's heroics, returning after a significant injury, Newcastle United would hope for the player to remain injury-safe. The Magpies club are in for a long season, with their next challenge up against Tottenham, and thus, the club can't afford to miss any more players due to injuries or suspensions. Eddie Howe's side would hope for Willock's availability for their dream top-4 finish in this season's Premier League table.
