Newcastle United advances to the R16 of the Carabao Cup by a 1-0 win against Wimbledon

Newcastle United, coming on the back of a brilliant display against PL Giants Man City, entered the Carabao Cup fixture against Wimbledon, being the favorites, winning it 1-0 at the end. As was pretty much expected after a difficult fixture against Pep's Manchester City, many new names got the opportunity to feature in the Magpies lineup for the EFL Cup fixture.

While certainly, given the performance they had delivered last week, a 1-0 win wouldn't feel very convincing, however, for Eddie Howe and the players, it is the win that matters in the end. A solid display coming from Fabian Schar and the young prodigy Tino Livramento, combined with crucial efforts from the rest, proved enough for the win at St. James.

From the very beginning, the Magpies' attack was all over the Wimbledon backline. In the second half, although Eddie Howe's side came much closer on chances to solidify their lead further, the scoreline remained the same till the end. Undoubtedly, Wimbledon's number 1, Goodman, was the best player for the visitors in the fixture, making certain crucial saves for his side.

Overall, with this 1-0 win, Newcastle United has entered the Round of 16 in the Carabao Cup and has been scheduled to play Chelsea on October 29th. Considering the form the Magpies club has been in recently, Eddie Howe and the players would try their best to get their hands on the EFL Cup, marking an end to their trophy drought.
