Unfortunately for Newcastle fans, it's been all no Newcastle transfer news with Newcastle transfer action. Not only has Eddie Howe struggled to bring players in, but he still has some players on the fringe of football he would benefit from letting go.

Newcastle transfer news: Rio Ferdinand encourages Arsenal to sign Alexander Isak

We have reported already this week that Arsenal are eying the signing of Isak, but now Mikel Arteta has been given even more encouragement. According to a report from Football365, Rio Ferdinand was speaking on the FIVE podcast and has encouraged Arsenal to go all out and sign Alexander Isak...

“Alexander Isak was running in behind constantly [against City], if I’m Arsenal, I’m going all out and buying him.”

Arsenal have a long history with Rio Ferdinand, from which they are best inclined to ignore his advice. At least that's what I'm telling myself, anyway.

Alexander Isak is an exceptional player and he is being noticed by some of the best footballing minds. Not just Mikel Arteta, but the best manager of all time Pep Guardiola, who the Spaniard learned from.

Therefore, we must open ourselves up to the reality that we may risk losing Alexander Isak this January or summer. It was never the plan, but this is football and unfortunately, our club is no different to any other - It's a business, and if the right offer is tabled, it will be hard for the owners to turn down.
