Most of the Newcastle transfer news today has focused on Kieran Trippier, and for good reason since there are many angles to Bayern Munich's interest. From Newcastle's angle, we must say that the interest shown from the Bavarian club is absolutely hilarious.

Newcastle transfer news: Journalist reveals Kieran Trippier update - It's HILARIOUS

And this has been exemplified by a recent update on social media from the journalist Christian Falk. Posting to X (formerly Twitter), Falk claimed that Bayern Munich are trying to sign Kieran Trippier on loan, but Newcastle don't want this and insist on a transfer instead.

Well, duh...

What were Bayern Munich thinking? Kieran Trippier is one of our best players and we have no reason to send him out on loan. He is 33 years old, so it's not like he's a youngster struggling for game time who needs to go out on loan for his development. In fact, this case is quite the opposite and I struggle to see where the benefit would be in us sending out Trippier abroad on loan.

I can see the benefit of Newcastle selling Kieran Trippier, particularly with his age and FFP concerns proving difficult to deal with. While I wouldn't like to see this sale, at least it would be justified unlike sending him out on loan.

In case you missed it, we reported earlier today that Newcastle plan to keep Kieran Trippier, after Bayern Munich's first attempt was rejected. However, there's no denying that this decision could be swayed with the right offer - An offer which Bayern don't look likely to make right now.

As I said, Trippier has been one of our best performers this season and to still be in the position we're in despite the injury crisis is a testament to players like Trippier.
