Callum Wilson has been at the heart of Newcastle transfer news in the last week but unfortunately for some Newcastle fans, it hasn't been good news. The fanbase seems to be divided when it comes to the English striker, with a certain percentage thinking we should keep him for his dynamism in the front line and others turning to his injury record as a big red flag.

Regardless what you think of Wilson, he has his advocates abroad. In the last week, both AC Milan and Atletico Madrid have been linked with Wilson, with rumours that both could make a move for him before the January transfer window comes to a close next week.

However, the most reliable transfer source has finally spoken out and rubbished those links. That's right, Fabrizio Romano recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to deny Wilson a move to neither AC Milan nor Atletico Madrid.

Romano said: "Callum Wilson won’t join AC Milan as their focus is on different positions with Giroud, Okafor and Jović doing very well. Atlético Madrid will go for Moise Kean and not for Callum Wilson."

So, it looks like Callum Wilson will remain a Newcastle player after all. Unless other suitors come in for him, that is.

In case you missed it, Newcastle Toons reported earlier that the club plan to keep ahold of Callum Wilson, with Eddie Howe a big fan of his work rate. So he has the backing of the club and his transfer targets are beginning to back out, this looks like Wilson will remain a Geordie heading into the second half of the season.

Wilson has been used as a super-sub this season because as mentioned, his injuries have let him down. Since hs is currently out, Eddie Howe will hope that his striker has a speedy recovery so he can get back to business as usual.
