Fabrizio Romano hasn't had much to report this month in terms of Newcastle transfer news, but he has always been on the ball whenever something has come up. This time, the transfer expert has had his say on the rumoured Bruno Guimaraes transfer.
For those who are unaware, there have been some lingering reports doing the rounds that Newcastle may have to sell one of their star players, with Bruno Guimaraes the obvious name people jump to. The reason for this is to please FFP regulators before committing to any necessary signings this January.
Newcastle transfer news: Fabrizio Romano issues a BIG Bruno Guimaraes transfer update
However, as reported by Fabrizio Romano via Caught Offside, Bruno Guimaraes does not want to leave Newcastle, nor is he expected to be forced out this month despite some reports. Here's what the transfer guru had to say on the matter:
“Despite rumours, nothing is clear now on Bruno Guimaraes. Bruno has not decided to leave, there’s nothing decided in terms of price, all reports on Spanish clubs are not confirmed just because time for decisions is not now. Bruno is expected to stay in January and then in the next months we will see what happens."
There should be a collective sigh of relief from all Newcastle fans, since the club cannot afford to lose Bruno Guimaraes this January, or ever. He has been one of our best players this season and the most reliable for Eddie Howe to call upon each week, with suspensions and injuries hitting the midfield the most this season.
There were some big hitters who wanted to sign Bruno Guimaraes, including Paris Saint-Germain who were impressed with his displays in the Champions League group stage. However, the Brazilian is here to stay, at least this month.
