Newcastle transfer news: Eddie Howe keen to land exciting £8m attacker in January
According to a sensational new report by Brazilian outlet Bolavip (via Football Fan Cast), Newcastle have set their sights on signing the young Brazilian winger Riquelme Fillipi. It makes sense that Eddie Howe has targetted Fillipi since he is versatile and can perform to the best of his abilities either as a right-winger or left-winger.
Currently, Newcastle have two wingers our of action for a sustained period of time, with Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes suffering long-term injuries which leaves Eddie Howe depleted of options on either flank. While he is doing a good job at making ends meet in this area of the pitch, the English manager would certainly benefit from signing a versatile forward who could cover on each side of the pitch.
Like no other, this January transfer window will be important for Newcastle. They have many positions which need to be strengthened given their injury crisis. They have almost an entire team of players our injured or suspended, so it's good to see that the recruitment team have their thinking caps on and have located a smart transfer target in Riquelme Fillipi.
