For the last few months, Kalvin Phillips has been a mainstay in the Newcastle transfer news rounds. The Man City midfielder who is looking for a place in the EURO 2024 squad with England is linked with a move away from Pep Guardiola's side since he is not guaranteed gametime there, at least not as much as he would be at Newcastle.

But, in the last few days, it's become apparent that Man City might not be easy to barter with. At the moment, the quadruple champions seem adamant that they won't budge on their stance, with Phillips only being able to leave on loan with a fee and obligation to buy.

As much as the agents of Kalvin Phillips are trying to help, Eddie Howe has now decided to turn to other options, if reports are to be believed.

In my opinion, there are better options out there. We shouldn't sweat the pursuit of Kalvin Phillips as there comes a time when you have to swallow your pride for the sake of meeting your needs in the transfer window. I would love to sign Phillips and think he would be a massive help with the injury crisis but if City won't budge, then we shouldn't waste precious time by waiting around.

Earlier today, we reported that Eddie Howe was keeping a stern eye on Atalanta midfielder Ederson, who would be an excellent addition. I guess time will tell who is the more realistic option.
