Newcastle transfer news: Arsenal boss Arteta eyes sensational Alexander Isak transfer

According to an exclusive report from Football Transfers, Arsenal are eyeing a sensational move for Alexander Isak of Newcastle. With Callum Wilson out injured, Isak is the stapled first-choice striker for Eddie Howe, however, with PIF eyeing a new striker signing this January, there's no saying whether or not Isak will be allowed to leave in the summer.

Isak is a terrific striker who suits Eddie Howe's system well. When it comes to sheer technical ability, there aren't many better than him in England. This is why Arsenal would like to sign the Swede international, as they seek to add more threat from central positions, with Gabriel Jesus being best utilised out-wide.

Anything could happen between now and the summer transfer window, which is when Arsenal are more likely to pursue Alexander Isak, so it's difficult to predict the outcome. Certainly, if the price is right, then PIF would be willing to make a positive return on their investment.

Ageing at 24 years old, I hope that Isak is the future of Newcastle United. He's the best striker we've had for some time and in many ways, one of the leading figures in this period of transition into a superclub.

With Isak in the squad, Eddie Howe has many tactical options which is exactly what he needs during this injury crisis. While Howe seems to be a fan of Isak, the decision ultimately comes down to those higher up at St James Park.
