However, what happened was nothing less than sheer disappointment for Gordon, and recently, he spoke to ITV about the same. Even though England made it to the Finals, Gordon only managed to get 5 minutes of play in the entire campaign. In fact, it looked much clear that Southgate's unit lacked flair in their forward play, but despite that, Gordon wasn't given a chance to showcase his talent.
Expressing utmost disappointment, the star winger has finally opened up on how he had imagined it to be vs. how it turned out. Gordon said,

Overall, it was a disappointing campaign for Gordon, who, coming on the back of a significant season with the Magpies, could have contributed to England's success. However, the Euros being over long ago, the winger cannot do much about it and would hope to replicate his previous heroics for Newcastle this season.
