Newcastle ready to do it all over again for Marc Guehi?

The Premier League transfer deadline day ended a few days ago, and now almost every side has their squad finalized. While most of the English clubs enjoyed significant improvisations in their roster as compared to the last season, things didn't go significantly in favor of some clubs like Newcastle United.

It has been a much-known fact that the Magpies Club failed to bring in their needed reinforcements and, as a result, still has to manage with the existing players. Especially Marc Guehi's case was very interesting; even though Newcastle pursued him till the very end, the club couldn't finalize the required agreements.

However, recent reports suggest that despite having failed to convince Crystal Palace for a move, Newcastle are willing to do it all again for the center-back in January. As per The Telegraph, Eddie Howe's side seems ready to restart the process for Guehi's transfer; however, this time the scenarios may be much changed.

Not to forget, Marc Guehi has less than 2 years left in his contract at the South London club, and thus, Crystal Palace wouldn't resist cashing in the star defender. Moreover, reports suggest that the Tyneside club expects to have its finances sorted and will have money to spend on such a high-profile reinforcement.

Another interesting aspect is the fact that Crystal Palace would be on the lookout to manage significant cash, being aware of the defender nearing his contract expiry, and thus, the Magpies might relatively save much money. While the South London club wasn't ready to negotiate at anything less than £70M for Guehi, they might have to sell him for around £50M.

However, the only thing holding back Guehi's Newcastle move is that there would be stiff competition in the January window to sign the Englishman. Being aware of the defender's heroics, both for Crystal Palace and his national team, clubs like Liverpool and Chelsea might be willing to pour heavy cash to acquire the player's signature.

Though further updates on Guehi's scenario are yet to arrive, with the winter window much further away, only speculations may be made regarding Newcastle's Guehi deal. But it is certain that taking lessons from their recent transfer window performance, the club would come better prepared next time.
