Newcastle United, who had been brilliant against Manchester City, looked restored to their initial season performances as they were restricted to a single point at Goodison Park. While they didn't look like the clear favorites to win the fixture beforehand, their performance did clearly illustrate that had they have been a bit better, a win was much more feasible.

Similar to the PL outing against Man City, once again, Captain Bruno Guimaraes and powerhouse midfielder Joelinton looked solid at the center of the park, but the club's finishing in the final third was really terrible. As a result, despite coming close to a goal several times, Newcastle did fail to test Pickford in Everton's goal on all aspects.

After the final whistle, club legend Alan Shearer looked pretty disappointed with the Magpies club, who looked terrible on finishing chances that came their way. Speaking about their poor final pass and finishing, Shearer mentioned,

"“They played some really good football in terms of getting into the final third, but their final pass or finish today was awful.""

Shearer, who had been pretty confident about Newcastle's win against Everton, rather stood shocked at their extremely poor finishing standards in the game. The PL record goal scorer went on to analyze all their games this season, pointing out their attacking numbers as mid-table. Shearer said,

"“There’s their attacking numbers this season. It’s very mid-table. But having said that, they are sixth in the league.""

A clear reason for their poor overall outing against Everton was the nightmare of a fixture for Anthony Gordon, who led the forward line in the matchday. Moreover, Eddie Howe not bringing 21-year-old prodigy forward William Osula into the fixture turned out to be a decisive factor for the Magpies, who lacked a conventional forward up front.

Alan Shearer further mentioned how star forward Alexander Isak's return is much needed for the club's betterment. The Newcastle legend said,

"“And they have got no Wilson and no Isak in the last couple of games. They need Isak fit if they are going to improve those stats.”"

Overall, it was a much more frustrating draw for the Magpies club, which in turn left club legend Alan Shearer pretty much baffled. Going forward, the club definitely needs to have Alexander Isak available after the international break, as they want to contend for a top-4 PL finish this season.
