Newcastle injury news has been coming thick and fast over the last few months. Unfortunately for Eddie Howe, though, the majority of the news has been negative. The Magpies have had a growing list of players out on the sidelines and whenever one returns, it seems to be one step forward but two steps back. Fans will hope for better injury luck ahead of Liverpool vs Newcastle.

This is the big Premier League fixture which takes place on New Years Day. Given the form displayed by the two teams, you would have to favour the home side. If we can go to Anfield and pull out a result, even if it's only a draw, I would be very thankful. Of course, the aim is always to win, but we have to be realistic given the circumstances.

Anyway, on way with the point of the article. Here's the Newcastle injury news vs Liverpool...

Newcastle injury news: Eddie Howe will miss NINE players vs Liverpool

We have already revealed the Jamaal Lascelles injury rule-out. The captain who missed the abysmal display against Nottingham Forest is unlikely to return for the trip to Anfield. Other defenders who are ruled out of Liverpool vs Newcastle include Matt Targett and Javier Manquillo. Also, Nick Pope will miss this match via a long-term injury.

There are further problems in the midfield, as Sandro Tonali is unable to play through suspension. In terms of injuries, Elliot Anderson and Joe Willock will miss this away trip. In the attack, Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes will not feature as they have been ruled out for some time through injury concerns.

So, in total, nine players will be missing in action for Newcastle. There are some big names in the injury and suspension list, but none more so than Nick Pope and Sandro Tonali. Hopefully, the players on the pitch will provide enough for Eddie Howe to pick up an invaluable three points against top-four rivals Liverpool.
