There has been plenty of Newcastle injury news hitting the mainstream today since this was the primary focus of Eddie Howe's press conference ahead of the EFL Cup quarterfinal. But one injury which has been swept under the carpet is the Elliot Anderson injury, as it's been a long time since we heard his name mentioned or had any updates on his injury setback.

All we've known for a long time is that the Newcastle United midfielder is recovering from a long-term injury and one which may see him ruled out for some time. However, it must be stated that with the great form of Lewis Miley, this could also add to the reason why we haven't had to think about Elliot Anderson for a long time.

And I mean that as no disrespect to Anderson as I haven't forgotten about the amazing player he is and will be when he returns. It is only a testament to Lewis Miley and his great form.

Newcastle injury news: Eddie Howe's update on "difficult" Elliot Anderson injury

Speaking on the Elliot Anderson injury setback is Eddie Howe. In the press conference, he elaborated on what life has been like for Anderson since he was injured, claiming he is still undergoing medical assessments and that this injury setback has been a "difficult" one...

"“Elliot’s been to see a specialist to get a review on where he stands. It’s a difficult injury for him because he’s not been able to do too much, it’s a stress fracture to the back.""

Eddie Howe

It will be great to see Anderson back on the pitch, however it's understandable that these things can't be rushed through fear of risking further injury. He was showing great potential before his injury setback so I hope he can kick back where he left off.
