Newcastle United's season start hasn't very well materialized the way they had expected it to be. While they do have the backing of a couple of good games this season, the majority of the Magpies club's performances have been rather sloppy, with them yet to prove their game against Manchester City was not a fluke. However, that hasn't been the only serious concern for manager Eddie Howe, who has had one of the most injury-inflicted squads this season.

With star defenders Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles injured and Lewis Miley still out of action, alongside superstar striker Alexander Isak injured, Howe's lineup has had serious injury concerns. With these star players injured, the unit's overall performance has been significantly impacted, but particularly, the result of injuries in the forward line has been grave.

Currently, with Alexander Isak being out for a few games due to a broken toe and his backup option Callum Wilson being injured as well, Howe has been dependent on Anthony Gordon in the role. Moreover, considering that Isak had been in such poor form recently, he would take some time to return to his best, and currently, Wilson's absence is being much more felt at the club.

Having brilliant numbers for the Magpies club in the last few seasons, Wilson has been one of the most reliable players in the club's setup. However, injuries have been a constant setback in his career at the club, on manager Eddie Howe is determined to help the English forward. Howe, recently speaking on getting him to his best fitness, mentioned on Wilson,

"“Of course, his playing ability when he’s fit; he’s an incredible player, so we’re determined to try and get him back fit and keep him fit for as long as possible.”"

As per the current scenario, Wilson is set to be back after the international break; however, already having been delayed in his recovery, things don't look clearly certain in his case. That is why Howe has decided to personally analyze the player's condition and ensure he remains fit for a considerable duration after he returns.

Callum Wilson's Newcastle career, even though inflicted with injuries, has never been a goal-scarce one, and thus, Howe's determinedness on the player's fitness levels could still bring the best out of him. The Magpies club, having Alexander Isak out of form and Osula being much raw for such a massive role, would hope Wilson to recover and return for the side after the October international break.
