- Magpies considering a move to sign Chelsea defender Axel Disasi.
- Fabrizio Romano revealed that Newcastle can try to sign Disasi incase they couldn't sign Guehi.
Recently, transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano reported that Newcastle United are involved in negotiations with Crystal Palace to sign Marc Guehi. However, Palace want a high transfer fee for Guehi as only three days are remainining in this transfer window. Further, Guehi has been named new Crystal Palace captain and he played in Crystal Palace's 4-0 win over Norwich City in the Carabao Cup.
Therefore, Newcastle United are less likely to sign the 24-year-old this season. So, Eddie Howe's side are considering other central defenders to strengthen their defence. Now, according to transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, the Magpies have set their sights on signing Chelsea defender Axel Disasi in this summer transfer window.

Disasi joined Chelsea in 2023, but has struggled for playing time due to a lot of competition for the centre back position at Chelsea. Disasi joined Chelsea from Monaco, where he established himself as one of the best young defenders in the French league. Thus, Disasi is willing to join a new Premier League team this season.
Speaking about Newcastle United considering signing Axel Disasi, Fabrizio Romano said,
"Another Chelsea story that has been doing the rounds is with Axel Disasi’s future possibly being in doubt and with Newcastle one of the names linked.

However, it looks like a quiet situation at the moment. Let’s see what happens between Newcastle and Marc Guehi."
Although, Axel Disasi isn't a proven Premier League performer like England star Marc Guehi, he is a young centre back who can improve under the guidance of manager, Eddie Howe. Overall, the signing of Axle Disasi depends on whether the Magpies complete the signing of their preferred centre back Marc Guehi. Currently, Eddie Howe's side are preparing to face Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup, with an aim to win a trophy this season.
