Newcastle United have submitted four bids for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, however Palace aren't willing to sell their reliable centre back. Recently, the 24-year-old captained Palace in their 2-0 defeat against West Ham in a home fixture. Also, Fulham signed Denmark international Joachim Andersen from Palace for £30 million, suggesting Palace's intention to not sell any other defender in this transfer window.

Before their match against West Ham, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner said that Guehi is a key player for them and they don't want to sell him with only one week remaining in this summer transfer window. However, former Crystal Palace star Clinton Morrison still believes that Guehi will join Newcastle United. Speaking about Newcastle's pursuit of Marc Guehi, Morrison said,

"He will be at Newcastle next week, 100%. Marc Guehi will be a Newcastle player next week. I think it will happen. It will definitely happen. That’s my opinion, 100% it will happen. They’re not miles apart."

This is a positive update for the Magpies, however, Oliver Glasner has made Guehi as the captain which signifies that Palace don't want to sell their star defender. Now, Eddie Howe's side need to submit an improved offer of around £85 million or try to include a few players into the deal to sign Guehi. Palace need a new defender, thus, if Newcastle gives Schar or Lascelles to Palace, they can sell Guehi for around £70 million to the Magpies.

But, there is only one week remaining in this transfer window, and Newcastle should consider alternatives to Guehi as well, incase they couldn't reach an agreement with Crystal Palace.
