Elliot Anderson's sale-one of the most difficult managerial decisions of Eddie Howe
- Newcastle had to let Elliot Anderson go for £15M for complying with PSR regulations.
- As per recent reports, Anderson's sale has been Eddie Howe's one of the most difficult managerial decisions.
Although the summer transfer window ended long ago, the window talks, after the club's cold participation, are still circling the Newcastle camp. While, a few days ago, it was about why didn't the club go on signing Marc Guehi and a right-wing prospect, recently, it has been about the club's forced sale of 21-year-old prodigy talent.
Elliot Anderson's sale-one of the most difficult managerial decisions of Eddie Howe
Not to forget, to comply with the PSR regulations, being clear of any points deduction possibility, Newcastle United had to sell Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson. While Newcastle fans have been in much regret for Minteh's departure, they hadn't looked into the loss inflicted by Anderson's loss.
Recently, significant reports have been given by The Telegraph's journalist John Percy, deep delving into Anderson's sales influence at Newcastle. As per sources close to Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, Anderson's departure has been one of the most difficult decisions the manager had to ever make.
Like the case of parting with superstars Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak, and Captain Guimaraes, Howe was much reluctant to the 21-year-old's sale. However, sensing the danger of points deduction and other charges, the manager had to take this harsh step. Howe, having watched Anderson rise from Newcastle's youth ranks, was against the idea of sacrificing the talent but had to take this difficult step.
On top of that, what has been rather regretful from the Magpies club perspective is the fact that they sold their academy talent for a meager £15M while spending £20M for Vlachodimos to comply with the regulations. Clearly, the deal has been a steal, being one of the best for Nottingham Forest. As expected, Anderson has been shining for the club, recently getting his hands on Nottingham's Player of the Month award.
From Newcastle's perspective, Anderson's loss has been significant, given that he possessed the talent to make his way to the playing XI, having options like Sandro Tonali, Joelinton, and Longstaff available. However, moving forward, the club would wish that they build stronger from the player's departure instead of thinking again over his sale.
