Newcastle will host Manchester United in the Premier League this weekend, having started the season well. Eddie Howe will be keen to forget about the disappointment in the Champions League where he was robbed by unprofessional UEFA officials for a late equalising penalty.

We have a chance to overtake Manchester United in the Premier League table with a win and if other results go our way, we could even climb to fifth in the table, which would set us within touching distance of the top four. Not bad for a team going through an injury crisis, eh?

Manchester United aren't an easy team to beat. Regardless of the memes made against them, they are a top team who have signed some quality reinforcements in recent years, which is a testament to their fine recruitment team. Although, Eddie Howe will pay no respect to their recruitment team in January, since a transfer tussle between us and them is set.

Manchester United eye Eddie Howe hijack of primary Newcastle transfer target

According to a report by ProSports, Romanian defender Radu Dragusin is looking for a new club to join and it's believed that Manchester United are in the advanced stage, which would be bad news for Newcastle United. As per the Geordie Boot Boys, we are still interested in signing Dragusin, having been interested in him in transfer windows gone by.

Given the injury for Sven Botman, and the ageing nature of our other options in the centre back position, it makes sense that we should look to reinforce in this position as soon as possible. A player who certainly fits the defensive philosophy instilled by Eddie Howe, Dragusin would be an instant improvement to the squad should we sign him, but we must overcome Man United first.

Do you think Radu Dragusin is a wise Newcastle transfer target?
