Eddie Howe praises "outstanding" defender who's tipped to start Chelsea vs Newcastle
By Kian Long
There's no rest for the wicked as Eddie Howe prepares for yet another important fixture but this time it's the EFL Cup quarterfinal between Chelsea vs Newcastle United.
One player who certainly has an advantage heading into this game is Emil Krafth. Having had his own injury concerns in the last few seasons, the versatile defender is finally back and getting some consistent minutes on the board. Krafth was called upon at the weekend as Fabian Schar was subbed off through injury, and this looks to be working in his favour heading into Chelsea vs Newcastle this evening.

Eddie Howe praises "outstanding" defender who's tipped to start Chelsea vs Newcastle
Speaking in his pre-match conference, Eddie Howe was blown away by the recent involvements from Emil Krafth. He has praised the defender's ability to come into the side during a difficult time and make defending look comfortable with his "outstanding displays"
"“Athletically very good, his speed is still there which was one of his key assets and after a long injury that’s always a question mark. His quality was evident and I was delighted with his performance, he was outstanding.”"
- Eddie Howe
I think Eddie Howe speaks for the entire fanbase when he shows gratitude to Emil Krafth for being the guy we can call upon during times of need. Having already impressed in the EFL Cup, I wouldn't be surprised to see him get another start in this competition, as Howe looks to book his place in the semifinal.
Krafth isn't a consistent starter and I don't think he has that expectation but while he's in this form and he's needed, there's no reason why he can't start in important games like this.
