Newcastle United are starting to move quietly but surely in the transfer market.

After finishing fifth in the Premier League and lifting the Carabao Cup, we’ve got big plans for the 2025-26 season.

A return to Champions League football is massive. And with it comes the need to add more quality and depth to the squad.

The transfer window has been open for a while now, but we’re yet to make a statement signing. Still, there’s a feeling that a couple of new faces could arrive in the coming weeks.

One name that’s been linked heavily is a Premier League winger who’s had a strong season. Fast, direct, and always involved in the final third; he fits the kind of profile Eddie Howe likes.

With Newcastle stepping away from the Bryan Mbeumo deal, the focus quickly shifted elsewhere.

Last week, we made an opening offer worth around £45m. It was rejected right away.

The selling club made it clear they weren’t keen to let their young star go. But that hasn’t stopped us.

Newcastle United transfer news: Anthony Elanga transfer decision

According to Football Insider, Newcastle are now preparing a second offer for Anthony Elanga.

The 23-year-old Sweden international has shown major improvement since leaving Manchester United and joining Nottingham Forest.

He’s got pace, energy, and knows the league well. Nottingham Forest have no plans to sell, but it’s believed a bid of around £60m might change that.

Newcastle’s next offer will likely be closer to the £50-55m mark. Elanga is said to be very interested in the move.

Playing Champions League football again is a big draw. And with Alexander Isak already at the club, a close friend and international teammate, the deal could benefit both the player and the club.

It’s still early in the summer, but things are starting to heat up on Tyneside. Elanga could be the first big name through the door and that could be just the start.
