Newcastle United's 2024/25 season so far has been quite underwhelming. Although the side was off to some quick points in the initial games, the Magpies club, being winless from the last 4 games now, find themselves in the 9th PL position. While certainly Eddie Howe's side hasn't been convincing completely in any aspect, their poor finishing upfront has cost them a lot of points recently.

Be it the game against Everton or their recent outing against Brighton, Newcastle's terrible final third presence was a crucial factor in them dropping easy points. Considering the club's scenario, with priority forward Isak out of form and Wilson's future uncertain, Newcastle might need to look for some forward options upfront. Addressing the same, the club has been reported to be interested in a 21-year-old PL prospect.

Liam Delap, who after rising through the Manchester City youth ranks made a move to Ipswich this summer, has been attracting significant interest from PL clubs. Having already netted 4 times this season in his 8 PL appearances, including a decisive brace against Aston Villa, Delap has been one of the best prospects this season.

Newcastle Club legend Alan Shearer had also praised Delap's performance against Aston Villa, as the youngster completed a sensational brace against one of the best keepers, Dibu Martinez. Including Delap in his Team of the Week, Shearer praised him, saying,

"“Two great goals, which will make him feel he belongs at this level. He could be the key to Ipswich staying up.”"

Thus, having gotten familiar with the player's potential, Newcastle United has joined the forward's race, as per Caught Offside. However, certainly, any move of the 21-year-old won't be easy for the Magpies, as many clubs, including Manchester City, who have a buy-back clause on him, have shown interest.

As per the current scenario, chances are less likely that the Magpies stand a considerable chance in the player's deal; however, by targeting such prospects, the club might have a better future assured. In the summer, Newcastle had shown faith in William Osula, who is much of a raw talent currently but, if improvised significantly, could become a starter in the future.
