Newcastle United's summer transfer window was a much poorer one, with the club failing to land their desired reinforcements at the club. Although they did follow up on their center-back prospect, Marc Guehi, and wing reinforcement, Anthony Elanga, for quite some time, the club had to return with no high-profile signings during the transfer event.
Newcastle United interested in £10.5 million in-form Premier League winger
That not only cost the club squad strength but rather led to huge frustration among the club fans after a silent transfer event for a consecutive second time. Thus, understandably, there would be huge pressure on sporting director Paul Mitchell to sign a few big names in the summer. Moreover, as per reports, the club still prioritizes right-wing reinforcement above other requirements.
While Nottingham's Anthony Elanga had been the club's sought-after target this summer and may continue to be so, Newcastle have been reported to be interested in Bournemouth's wing star Antoine Semenyo. The 24-year-old, who has had an exceptional start to the new season, is on the radar of big Premier League clubs like Tottenham and Liverpool, with Newcastle joining them in the race.
So far this season, none of Newcastle's right-wing forwards, Jacob Murphy or Miguel Almiron, have been convincing in the role, and thus the club would definitely want to have an upgrade on the two in the January window. Addressing the same, as per reports from Give Me Sport, the Magpies club has been eyeing 24-year-old prospect, Semenyo, for the role.
Coming on the back of an impressive 2023/24 campaign, having 10 goal contributions, the winger has upgraded his game significantly under Andoni Iraola. With only eight appearances in the season, the player boasts four goal contributions, out of which one came against the Magpies club itself in a 1-1 draw at Vitality Stadium. In fact, the player had come close to scoring a goal as well, however, was refused off the post.
Currently, Newcastle's transfer links with Antoine Semenyo are in the initial stages; however, the club would want to intensify them as the January window approaches. While it is certainly clear that the forward could be a significant upgrade over the existing options, the Magpies club might have to spend much on the player, considering interests from PL Big 6 as well.
