Newcastle United are ready to test the waters for Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos this summer – but the Magpies face serious competition.

According to CaughtOffside, Newcastle are among several clubs showing interest in the 23-year-old Portuguese international, whose future at PSG is now uncertain.

While Ramos was not initially expected to leave the French giants, growing interest from top clubs has opened the door to a possible exit. Newcastle are joined by Aston Villa, Juventus and Napoli in monitoring the situation – but they are also set to go head-to-head with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United.

It is a battle the Magpies must be prepared for.

Newcastle transfer news: Goncalo Ramos to Newcastle

Ramos has struggled to nail down a regular starting role under Luis Enrique, despite being described by the PSG boss as a “very interesting player.” His tally of 17 goals and four assists this season across club and country shows clear potential – and suggests that he could make a real impact in English football.

With Eddie Howe looking to reshape his attacking line, Ramos fits the mould.

Callum Wilson’s expected departure will leave a gap behind Alexander Isak, and Goncalo Ramos is viewed by Paul Mitchell and the recruitment team as an ideal candidate to raise the level. A dynamic finisher with European pedigree, Ramos would add firepower and depth as Newcastle prepare to push again for European football.
