Newcastle United's 2024/25 summer transfer window was quite an underwhelming one. Failing to land key desired reinforcements, Marc Guehi for the center-back role and Anthony Elanga for their right wing, the club had few positives over the summer. However, perhaps one of the best things Newcastle did was to retain their star-studded core amidst serious interest from the Big 6 clubs.

However, although the club did a commendable job halting any transfer moves for their star players, they want to end any such possibility by securing their services for years to come. Considering the same, Newcastle, after renewing star winger Anthony Gordon recently, now eyes ace forward Isak's renewal as soon as possible.

Marking an impressive debut campaign at the Tyneside club, netting 10 times in his 22 PL appearances, Isak had shown why he was signed for a staggering £63 million from Real Sociedad. In the next campaign, the Swedish star had unstoppable numbers as he finished third in the PL Golden Boot race for 21 goals in only 30 appearances. Clearly, Isak has been one of the biggest names for Newcastle, and thus, the Toon club is keen to renew him further, despite his current running till June 2028.

However, unfortunately, it seems that things won't be that easy for Newcastle to renew the superstar, who wishes to become the club's top earner if he is to renew. While certainly, this incentive is hard to fulfill, given Captain Guimaraes' stature at the club, recent reports suggest another difficulty for Newcastle. As per GiveMeSport reports, Isak might consider leaving the Magpies club if they fail to make it to any European Championship this season.

For Newcastle, this comes as a major shock, who find themselves struggling for points in the Premier League lately. Currently, sitting in the 9th position, Eddie Howe's side feels far from making it to the top-4 or at least achieving a Europa League berth. Moreover, now fearing losing their priority forward Alexander Isak, for whom both Chelsea and Arsenal are keeping tabs, things don't seem going a bit in Newcastle's favor.

Overall, the recent reports stating Isak's desire to feature in a European Championship next season have come as a major thinking point for the club's future. While certainly Eddie Howe and Co. would want themselves to finish as high as they can, given the current circumstances, Isak's future looks uncertain at Newcastle.
