Newcastle's 2024/25 summer transfer window was quite disappointing one. Failing to bring in key reinforcements such as a high profile center back and a prodigy winger, the Magpies club had a disappointing transfer event. Not only did the poor transfer window performance affect the club's expected squad strength but also led to huge tensions between the board members.

Particularly, ace defender Marc Guehi's deal failure proved to be vital, given everyone had been expecting the transfer for quite some time. In fact, the Magpies club had been active in the player's deal till the very end, but Crystal Palace's outrageous demand of £75M had director Paul Mitchell walking away. But while, clearly the deal's failure affected the Magpies club, recent reports indicate Guehi too had a tough time recovering from the uncertain phase.

In the 2024/25 season, the English International had a tough start to the Premier League campaign. Although gradually, defensive ace Marc Guehi has shown signs of returning to his best level, he recently reflecting upon the uncertain times during the summer window and expressed his situation. Speaking after Palace's recent draw against Wolves, upon being asked whether it was difficult for him to recover, Guehi replied,

""I would say yeah and no.”"

Adding further, the defender mentioned how a brilliant support system helped him recover from those uncertain times. Sharing his experience, Guehi said,

"“When you are constantly reading things about yourself, it can be distracting for some people. I’m just glad I have a good support system around me, my family, the club, my friends.""

Overall, clearly, while the failed transfer did have a pivotal impact on the Newcastle camp, it also affected Marc Guehi's momentum. However, while reports still mention that the Magpies club hasn't given up on him, it looks much certain from his recent media address that a move for him would be difficult in the upcoming January window. Although there is still much time left in the transfer event, Newcastle's Guehi deal could possibly take another turn.
