Newcastle United had an extremely underwhelming summer transfer window. Failing to land in key desired reinforcements, a right-footed center-back and a right-wing prodigy, the Magpies club had little to be convinced of from the transfer event. However, given the current scenario of Eddie Howe's side, the Magpies might reignite their interest in these areas in the coming transfer windows.

Paul Mitchell, being aware of the aftermath of a failed transfer window, would have significant pressure to make big signings, finalizing some key deals in the January window. While the club's need for a center-back reinforcement isn't over, they would certainly prioritize a right-wing signing in the winter transfer event.

So far this season, neither of the Toon stars, Jacob Murphy and veteran ace Miguel Almiron, have responded well on the right flank, and thus Mitchell might consider any promising signing for the role, an upgrade on the two. In fact, addressing the same, the Magpies club has been reported to be monitoring a 24-year-old PL wing star for a potential move in January.

Bournemouth's Antonie Semenyo, who has had a brilliant start in the 2024/25 campaign, having 4 goal contributions in 8 appearances, is on Newcastle's target. Given the fact that the wing star delivered a masterclass, against the Magpies themselves, contributing to Bournemouth's 1-1 draw, Semenyo ranks as one of the highest in Newcastle's pecking order wishlist for the right flank.

However, as has been the fate of the Tyneside club, it seems that completing this deal won't come any easy for them. As per Caught Offside reports, Arsenal and Tottenham have shown interest in the 24-year-old wing star, with the Gunners considering him as an ideal backup for homegrown superstar winger Bukayo Saka.

While this certainly means that Newcastle would need to spend heavily if they want to finalize Semenyo's deal, it could get them into PSR issues again. Being significantly aware of the repercussions they had to face, the Magpies would want to avoid that, instead focusing on untapped transfer markets for young talents. However, it remains to be seen how Newcastle's position in Semenyo's deal turns out to be, with the January window still far away.
