Newcastle United has faced their second loss of the 2024/25 campaign, their first at home, in their recent matchday against Brighton. Even though the club received a massive boost with star forward Isak returning back against Brighton, the unit succumbed at home, losing 0-1 at full-time. Not only has this defeat now kept them winless from the last 4 games, but it has also seen them slip to the meager 8th position of the PL table.

While certainly the fixture against Brighton wasn't supposed to be an easy one for the Magpies club, the way they dropped points would hurt them. Although Isak's return was meant to improve their goal-scarce, so far this season, the Swedish international looked miserable in front of the goal, alongside his partner forwards, failing to break the deadlock for the side.
Similar to the fixture against Everton, Newcastle's terrible finishing in the final third cost them the crucial points, where they at least looked certain of a draw. This was aptly put in by Club legend Alan Shearer's post, soon after the fixture, which read,
"“Newcastle very, very poor in front of goal again.”"

Not to forget, unlike other pundits, the PL record scorer had backed Eddie Howe's side for the complete 3 points from the fixture, and thus, Shearer's frustration with the club's poor display once again seems pretty valid. With this 0-1 defeat, not only did Newcastle United drop off some viable points, but it also compromised their home dominance at St. James Park.
For Eddie Howe's side, the last few games have been a nightmare, and it doesn't appear to be getting any better as the side progresses in the PL Campaign. Going forward, having to face Chelsea twice, once in the PL and next in the Carabao Tie, before being ready against Arsenal, things don't seem going the way Newcastle fans would have hoped. Though the Magpies club can bounce back to keep their top-4 hopes alive, their upcoming games would mean big for their campaign ahead.
